How I Got It: Purchased
Look,
another book I heard about on the DBSA podcast. Generally, this was your
standard New Adult novel. It had a few things I really liked and some that
bother me quite a bit.
I’m
definitely glad Kai, the hero, was bi-racial. He’s Dutch and Native American.
And Ms. Lee addressed some issues and concerns in the Native American
community. Although, it felt cliché for his family to be involved in casinos.
And
I enjoy a good friends to lovers story. This was also kind of a friends with
benefits story. It wasn’t hyper sexual like some New Adult novels can get. Kai
and Rachel built a strong emotional relationship.
One
issue I had was that much of the conflict was them not talking to each other. I
feel like I say this a lot, but that is my least favorite conflict. Why can’t
people just talk to each other?
It
was a perfectly good story and I would recommend it if you like New Adult. But
I wouldn’t expect anything genre-busting or mind-blowing.
Thanks for reading!
