Make It Right by Megan Erikson

Series: Bowler University (Book 2)

Format: ebook

Pages: 384

Rating: 4 Stars

How I Got It: Purchased

Just like the first book in the series this was a fairly light New Adult novel. It’s fun with enjoyable characters.

Lea was unique. First, she has an injury that causes her to have a physical deformity. You just don’t see a lot of that. And she has tattoos and crazy piercings from her rebellious teen years. It would have been nice if that part of her past was further explored.

And I really liked Max. he intrigued me in the first book. He also has these interesting personality traits like how much he cooks and bakes. It didn’t happen often, but it was really fun to see him interact with his ex-girlfriend Kat. They have an intriguing relationship and their interactions show a lot about their characters.

The first book and this one had some similar relationship conflicts: pretending, building walls, and not using your words like a grown up. Now, I’m not a fan of omission/not talking as a conflict. But my real issue is how similar the two books were.

Oh, something that was fantastic and you don’t see a lot of happened. There was a decent amount of happy time at the end. So many books, especially with a romance, end right after the conflict is resolved. That always leaves me wanting, but these books didn’t have that problem.

The third book in this series comes out in January and I’ll definitely be checking it out.

~Thanks for reading!

How I Got It: Purchased

This read is part of a growing trend where I buy and read books I heard about on the DBSA podcast. And I haven’t been disappointed yet.

This is a New Adult story but it’s not all angst and damaged pasts which was a breath of fresh air. Obviously there’s conflict because it’s a book, but everything isn’t the end of the world.

I loved the relationship between Kat and Alec. They struggle with perceived intellectual differences which is a different kind of conflict. And I love the way they interact with each other. They are constantly joking around with each other, but in a healthy way.

Alec is smart, but he isn’t a stereotypical mind. He’s funny and sexual. And-praise Jesus-not socially awkward.

I only had a couple of issues. Sometimes the dialogue felt a little off. And sometimes Kat would over-react and/or not even let someone try to explain themselves. I can handle that behavior in moderation, but it was used a little too much in this book.

This is the first in what I believe will be a three book series. I already bought the next one and will probably be reading that next. Who needs a TBR anyways. And I’m excited to read about the two characters the next book is about, but I also hope Kat and Alec show up some more so I can see them all happy and adorable.
