37678819
Series: Sinful Suitors Book #5.5
Format: ebook
Rating: 3 Stars
How I Got It: NetGalley
Genre: Historical Romance
Publisher: NetGalley

Synopsis courtesy of Goodreads

Lady Anne is shocked when Captain Lord Hartley Corry—her former fiancĂ© who left for India after her father forbade their marriage—returns to England and acts as if everything is all water under the bridge. He never fought for her hand or eloped with her as he promised and he thinks she’d still be willing to marry him? Not a chance.

Hartley is equally shocked to literally run into his past love upon arriving at his brother’s house. Though he yearns to take advantage of this second chance to woo his beloved, he can hardly admit that he is secretly a spy—at least not until he can be sure he trusts her. But convincing Lady Anne to let him prove his sincerity by courting her respectably all over again might be his undoing. Because all he wants is to show her how much of a rogue he can be when the right woman is in his arms…

Review

***I received this book via NetGalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

Risk of Rogues was a fun, quick read. The characters are likeable and easy to route for. Their love story is that of reunited lovers which is a favorite of mine.

However, it was a little rushed-especially on the side of the heroine. She goes from being furious with the hero (Hart) to saying she's his fiance (when she isn't). This is one of my regular complaints about novellas. They often feel rushed/forced. Hart's feeling came across much more authentic.

Overall, this was a pretty standard historical romance novella. If you like that and/or Sabrina Jeffries I'd say this would be an entertaining read for you.

Thanks for reading!

Book Review: How the Scoundrel Seduces by Sabrina Jeffries

18744733
Series: The Duke’s Men Book #3
Format: Paperback
Pages: 388
Rating: 3 Stars
How I Got It: Purchased

My feelings on this book are actually very similar to the first book in the series. And while I’m still not blown away I will continue the series. I’m especially interested in the characters in the next book.

Just like the first book this romance was a little fast. Tristan especially seemed to be emotionally invested in Zoe from the beginning. I just didn’t understand why he would care.

I really enjoyed Zoe as a character. She was bold, but rarely went into reckless territory. And I like when characters dress a little different even though you can’t actually see it.

It was also nice to see a healthy parent-child relationship. I know why authors don’t go this route often, but I appreciate it. It wasn’t an incredibly huge part of the story, but you can tell Zoe and her father care about each other so much.

Thanks for reading!

Book Review: What the Duke Desires by Sabrina Jeffries

16130107

Series: The Duke’s Men Book #1
Format: Paperback
Pages: 384
Rating: 3 Stars
How I Got It: Purchased

This felt like an average historical romance. I have no big complaints, but it also wasn’t anything ground breaking. And I’m still a big fan of Sabrina Jeffries and will continue the series.

I liked Lisette and the Duke. And they had some decent chemistry. They both had strong personalities which I like. But sometimes they would backtrack. Like Lisette would be firm on something and then act differently like a page later. That kind of behavior is a little frustrating.

And while I do believe in their romance it progressed too fast. All of their sexual chemistry and physical interactions were great. But I thought things like love and marriage were thrown around a little to quickly.

Thanks for reading!
